A French Press coffee maker is a machine used to brew coffee differently to achieve a better tasting cup of Joe. It’s an easy way to brew coffee with excellent flavor and aroma results.

The coffee extraction process in a French Press is very pure, from the coffee grounds. The coffee grounds are filtered through a mesh sieve while the plunger is gently pressed.

  • Use 8 teaspoons of the coffee bean into your portable grinder(coarser setting). If the grinder is smaller, you may need to grind a few more times…
  • Add the coarse coffee ground to the French Press
  • French Press users mix an average of 8 grams of ground coffee per 4 ounces of water, it’s a good ratio, unless you prefer to increase, or decrease the strength of the coffee, and you can experiment by increasing or decreasing the coffee grounds in 1 gram increments until you achieve the perfect strength for you.
  • Part of the process is to preheat the French Press by filling it halfway with hot water.
  • Fill the 2nd half of the French Press carafe in a spiraling motion, and make sure you evenly submerge all the coffee grounds. This part of the process is called Blooming, which releases carbon dioxide bubbling up.
  • After 1-2 minutes, fill the carafe the rest of the way with hot water while you gently stir the mix of coffee grounds.
  • Allow it to rest for 3-4 minutes
  • At this point push the plunger all the way down in a gentle but firm motion, until the coffee grounds are trapped at the bottom
and the coffee is ready to be poured.
